mini pizza flyers
30 minutes This should take about 30 mins

You will need:

  • 1 large white tortilla wrap
  • 20-30g smooth sieved tomato passata
  • 30g grated mature cheddar cheese
  • A selection of toppings (such as fresh basil, peppers and cooked chicken)
  • Work mat
  • Cookie cutter (7cm)
  • Teaspoon
  • Baking tray lined with baking paper
  • Oven glove (for adult use)

What to do:

Step 1

Before cooking, wash your hands and put an apron on. Weigh or measure all the ingredients. Ask a grown-up to preheat the oven to 150˚C fan / 170 ˚C / gas 4.

Step 2

Use a cookie cutter to cut the tortilla wrap into small circles (from a 25cm wrap you can get six small disks). Start close to the edge of the wrap and cut them close together working your way around. Once you have done this, place the cut circles on to the baking paper on the baking tray.

Step 3

Next spoon one teaspoon of passata onto each disk and swirl it around with the back of the teaspoon, spreading the passata almost to the edge of the tortilla circle.

Step 4

Now choose a couple of toppings you like to sprinkle over your mini pizzas. Some of the toppings you could use are cooked chicken, tuna, ham, fresh peppers, basil leaves, pineapple, mushrooms and tinned sweetcorn.

Step 5

Then sprinkle the cheddar cheese over your six Mini Pizza Flyers. You will need to ask an adult for help with this part. Place them in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese has melted and they have gone golden brown. Leave to cool a little before eating or eat cold for a picnic.

shortbread

What to do:

Step 1

Before cooking, wash your hands and put an apron on. Weigh and measure all the ingredients. There should be enough for eight shortbread biscuits using the quantities shown.

Step 2

Put the flour and butter together in the mixing bowl, then rub with your fingers. Just imagine you are tickling the ingredients. Keep tickling until it becomes crumbly.

Step 3

Add half a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the bowl and then mix in the caster sugar. Tear the glace cherries into small pieces and add these to the mixing bowl too.

Step 4

Now squeeze the mixture into a ball with your hands until it all sticks together and sprinkle a clean surface with flour. Then roll the dough out flat with a rolling pin until it is about 0.5 cm thick.

Step 5

Now use a cutter to cut shapes out of your mixture and place them onto a baking tray that has been pre-covered with baking paper. You can re-roll the dough to cut more shortbread biscuits until it is all used up.

Step 6

You will need to ask a grown-up for help with this part. Place the tray in a pre-heated oven at 160ºC Fan/180ºC/Gas 3 for 12–15 minutes.

Step 7

Once they are cool you can eat them, but not all at once!

Step 8

Serving suggestion: make these biscuits as a lovely gift for someone special or serve one or two each with some fresh fruit and a glass of milk for a healthy snack. This dish can be frozen for up to one month.

Ruby

There is a lot to say about my little cousin. She has a pretty face,a funny and bubbly personality. She is very well mannerd and she is very active. The day that Ruby came along I was so excited. The next day when i first met her i thought to myself isnt that a beautiful little girl and she is my cousin.
Me and Ruby have some very funny moments like when we visited the isle of wight and we went for a paddle (at least thats what i thought).
We sometime like to make things or cook things and play with playdough
This is my favourite picture of Ruby and I because it reminds me of how special she is.
I love the way Rubys eye shine in the light. and how she is snuggled up. This is one of the very first pictures i saw of Ruby.
This is such a loverly picture. it describes everything of what she is and that smile so cute.
